The Comeback: New Queer Bar Plans December Opening in SODO

A brand new LGBTQ+ club in SODO, The Comeback, will open two blocks from the light rail station, half a mile from the stadiums, and in the midst of neighboring venues such as Supernova, Showbox, Monkey Loft, and Club Sur.

The Comeback is opening in replacement of R Place, a recently closed anchor of Capitol Hill nightlife. Although the popular nightclub will not be returning on the hill, this means Seattle’s newest nightlife corridor is gaining a new name.

“I started looking back in February,” Floyd Lovelady says, right around the time news broke that R Place would not return post-pandemic. “I looked in the Central District, Queen Anne, looked all over Capitol Hill and just couldn’t find anything that piqued my interest.”

“I’ve got a forty-foot stage, it’s going to be one of the biggest drag stages in the city,” Lovelady says. The space features modular walls which can allow for multiple event accommodations, a gaming area with pool tables and dart boards, and gender-neutral restrooms. The Comeback plans to host a variety of events and shows including pre-game LBGTQ+ meetups, drag shows, and more! They will open their doors at 1950 1st Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134.
