National Night Out Brings the SODO Community Together
Despite the smoky conditions, the SODO community came together for National Night Out—and we’re so glad you did! With 12 organizations joining our Community Resource Fair, including city departments, local nonprofits, and community partners, the event was a great opportunity to connect with the people and organizations that help make SODO a strong and welcoming community.
A big thank-you to everyone who came out and spent part of their evening with us. Your support and participation helped make the event a success, and we appreciated the chance to connect with so many SODO businesses, neighbors, community members, and public safety partners.
We were especially grateful to host this year’s event at the Canine Companions Puget Sound Field Office. A SODO nonprofit, Canine Companions is a leader in the service dog industry, providing service dogs to adults, children, and veterans with disabilities, as well as facility dogs to professionals working in healthcare, criminal justice, and education. Since its founding in 1975, Canine Companions has provided its dogs and follow-up services at no cost to clients.
Their mission was a natural fit for National Night Out, which gives communities an opportunity to come together and recognize the people who work every day to serve and keep us safe.
We were honored to welcome officers from the Seattle Police Department, Interim Chief of Police Andre Sayles, Assistant Chief Nicole Powell, Seattle Fire Chief Harold Scoggins, Director of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods Quyen Pham, and Director of Seattle Office of Economic Development Beto Yarce.
A special thank-you to Canine Companions for hosting us, On Safari Foods for catering, and Pedersen’s for providing the event rentals.
And thank you to all of the organizations that joined us for our Community Resource Fair!
