Spokane Street Low Bridge Closures to Traffic for Five Sundays Starting December 19

Seattle Department of Transportation plans to briefly close the Spokane Street Low Bridge for three times a day on upcoming Sundays in December and January.

The bridge is scheduled to close three times a day for up to 30 mins each. Closures begin around 9 AM, around 1 PM, and around 5 PM.

SDOT is attempting to align these short closures to happen during off-peak periods and when there are lulls in traffic to minimize impacts to the community.

The planned dates for these closures will be:

  • Sunday, December 19
  • Sunday, January 9
  • Sunday, January 16
  • Sunday, January 23
  • Sunday, January 30

Authorized vehicles and pedestrians using the low bridge will need to take the signed detour routes during these closures, travel at a different time, or wait up to 30 minutes when the bridge will reopen.

Additional info, alternate routes, anticipated closures, application for authorized vehicle access and more can be found here!

With public safety as a top priority, low bridge access is restricted to keep the low bridge clear for emergency vehicles, transit, and heavy freight.

  • Low bridge is closed to most vehicles weekdays from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. and weekends 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Unauthorized vehicles will receive a $75 ticket for every trip across the bridge.
  • Low bridge is open to everyone weeknights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and weekends from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Low bridge pedestrian path is open all days and all hours for people walking, rolling, using an electric foot scooter, or biking
