The SODO Green Space Plan

The SODO community wants a greener industrial district. The SODO Green Space Plan outlines a vision for a healthy, safe, efficient, and resilient future for the benefit of all businesses, employees, and visitors.

The crux of this vision is simple: green infrastructure can be integrated into industrial spaces without disrupting freight and business operations.

Key Opportunities

Green spaces have significant environmental, economic, and social benefits — including improving air and water quality, natural stormwater management and soil protection, and attracting people to local business districts and community spaces.

Some key opportunities for greening include…

– Street Trees

– Under Overpasses

– Dog Parks

– Underutilized Spaces

– Private Greening: Green Roofs or Walls

Greenspace Open House 2023

Thanks to all who joined us for our Greenspace Open House on September 28th, 2023. Here we had the opportunity to discuss the needs, benefits, and opportunities related to a greener Industrial District with the SODO community.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to take part in the SODO Greenspace plan! We’re currently planning additional opportunities for community members to provide feedback, and volunteering opportunities for site preparation.
