Inslee signs new COVID-19 order for phased re-opening of Washington’s economy

Safe Start is a data-driven plan that includes regional variances based on population and low COVID-19 counts.

Some businesses could re-open as early as this week under the new COVID-19 order signed by Gov. Jay Inslee. The state’s “Safe Start” plan is a phased approach to re-opening Washington’s economy.
Under the plan, smaller counties can apply for a variance from the order which would allow them to open even more businesses than allowed statewide.

Safe Start sets a careful approach to emerging from the pandemic. It allows for modifications of business closures and physical distancing measures while minimizing the health impacts of COVID-19.

Food Business Orientation

Jennifer Tam is a Food Business Advocate at the City of Seattle’s Office of Economic Development managing the Food Business Program. She helps people navigate through the requirements and regulations when opening or expanding a food business in Seattle and connects people to small business development resources.

SODO Steps Up Spotlights

Merlino Foods
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Merlino Foods has stepped up in many ways. But the one that stood out the most to us, is the lending of their trucks and drivers for the Chicken Soup Brigade! By Merlino lending their trucks, the Chicken Soup Brigade has been able to continue delivering meals to those in need⁠.

Charlie’s Produce
Charlie’s Produce are so proud to have partnered with The Plate Fund, a campaign to help raise funds for restaurant workers in the Seattle area who have suffered financial hardship because of the COVID-19 crisis.
