Capitol Hill’s R Place will Live on in SODO

After more than 30 years, R Place left its Capitol Hill lease during the pandemic and was cleared out of its decades of nightlife memories.
Fortunately, The Comeback is opening in it’s place, a new LGBTQIA+ club with dancing, performances, and good times just south of the stadiums in our own SODO neighborhood! “I wanted a place we could be as noisy as we want” according to Floyd Lovelady, planning to open The Comeback on 1950 1st Ave by the end of 2021.

Lovelady added that as much as he wishes R Place could stay on Capitol Hill, a variety of factors led him to look elsewhere; finding a suitable space at a reasonable cost was the biggest one. Seattle noise ordinances and new apartment buildings going up all over the Hill were also considerations.
The new SODO location is just two blocks from T-Mobile Park and was once home to Eden Seattle, an event rental space, bar, and nightclub.
